"I recognise that not every guitar needs a complete overhaul, so I offer a fully tailored set-up or service depending on your needs.

If you are unsure what is best for your instrument, just bring it along for a chat – rest assured that no pressure will be placed upon you to have more done than is necessary.

Indeed I’ve had musicians who have been told that the instrument requires an expensive re-fret job, only to find that an expert fret dress is all that is required. (Much cheaper!).

I’ve had customers who intended to “do up” a guitar for sale as they were unhappy with the sound – and go away so delighted that they intend to keep the instrument!!”

Quality conscientious work

Just ask...

I can carry out specific tasks, for instance, pickup replacement, custom wiring or any general modifications and minor repairs.

Often I do recommend, however, that the simplest level of service, is carried out in order to maximise the potential of your repair / upgrade / enhancement.

Pickup replacement / Custom wiring: Replace / update various component parts / most types of general modifications / minor repairs – both electric and acoustic guitars and some small electrical items like effects pedals – just ask, I can do most things. ?

I recognise that every guitar is absolutely unique, and what you really want to know is:

a) Can I do a minor repair / alteration? (yes!)

b) What is the present state of the guitar and what is recommended?

c) How much is it going to cost?

I am happy to undertake minor jobs but usually find that once a customer discusses his / her guitar with me, you find out what should / could be done to bring it up to a reasonable standard, then the customer opts to fully maximise the potential of your modification – whether it’s a repair or upgrade.

Friendly, professional advice

Tailored work...

wp4f909643_05_06I will spend time discussing the options with you, explaining what each step entails, but will NEVER pressurise you to spend more than you want to.

I rarely spend less than 2-3 hours working on a guitar (usually many more ) and always provides a written report on the work done. ( So I’m cheaper than the average plumber and take a lot more interest in the job! )

More time-consuming jobs: replacement pickups, electrical modifications, full set-up or service – the time spent is obviously reflected in a higher cost – I am always happy to discuss any budgetary constraints ( ie what you can afford! ) before starting work, and will keep you fully informed whilst work is in progress.

Please note that I do not undertake full fret replacements or re-paint jobs and prices quoted are exclusive of parts needed.

I often find that a musician has bought a second hand instrument which has not been played or cared for and needs the ‘full works’.

Customers find that even guitars which are newly purchased are often disappointing until I have set them up.

It’s very gratifying that ALL of my customers are over the moon– ‘fantastic’, ‘didn’t know it could sound so good’, incredible ‘wonderful’, ‘gobsmacked’, ‘so grateful, mate’, ‘I’ll be back – its so difficult to find a GOOD guitar technician, who actually delivers what he promises’.

Our visits and rock journeys

Highly recommended..

Many customers are returning with their other guitars, ( I’ve done four or more for numerous individual guitarists !! ) or a friend with a guitar! Click here to see testimonials

In fact Robin takes a real pride in his work and is pleased that he seems to be rapidly becoming “the” place to go amongst local musicians, not to mention those that live a bit further afield. There can be no greater compliment than to have ‘word of mouth’ recommendations.
