What happens when dreams come true….. well on finally realising my dream of owning a Gibson 356 with factory fitted Bigsby reality hit…. creaking tremolo arm, numerous neck buzzes, and tuning instability…..whether due to a long and arduous journey from USA via Ireland, or due to the increasingly, (it seems), poor workmanship in the Gibson Custom Shop, the guitar although looking like the dream did not play like it…. after some internet searching I found Robin’s web site and gave him a call…. it was worth it…… all buzzing has gone, tuning is consistent and the Bigsby no longer creaks …. the guitar now plays beautifully …he has returned the reality back into the dream…. I suspect my acoustic will be wending its way to Robin’s consulting room shortly….. for a professional, generous, friendly, knowledgeable and conscientious craftsmen I would recommend Robin unreservedly… hopefully now my guitar and I will live happily ever after….. thanks Robin!   Nick (Derby)

Warmoth Stratocaster

Just thought I’d drop you a line to say thanks again for the set-up work. I’m really happy with the guitar and may try another self build at some stage, something a bit more retro, maybe a relic style strat.

Acoustic Tanglewood

Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for the incredible work you did on my acoustic Tanglewood.  It now plays and sounds amazing, thanks to your hard work; it is quite simply  a dream to play.  I was so impressed with the incredibly reasonable price, considering it took you far longer to set up the guitar than you anticipated.  You are accommodating, knowledgeable, a pleasure to deal with and a real talent.  It is so hard to find a true guitar doctor who works wonders and clearly takes pride and care over his work.   I have no hesitation in recommending you and will definitely bring my other guitars for the same treatment!  Many thanks for all your efforts.   Dean

Epiphone SG Playing the damn thing an hour and I can’t put it down!!! Absolutely top notch, thank you so much. Lee

Question: How can I turn an Epiphone into a Gibson?

Answer: Take it to Robin AKA the Guitar Doctor

Thank you so much for the work you did on my SG, I am absolutely stunned with how good it feels and sounds. The amount of care and workmanship given to it is of the highest professional standard and it is paining me to write this e-mail as it is preventing me from playing it!!!! Nice friendly service with a wealth of knowledge, experience and the rates were more than reasonable which is more than appreciated.  Thanks again Lee (Back to the Axe!!!)

( Lees’ Dads’ guitar) Thank you for breathing new life into my guitar and making it a pleasure to play again, suffice to say after 34 years it was well due a tune up and it was worth the wait. Best wishes, Colin (Sutton-on-Sea)

Ibanez Destroyer: Just a quick note to say how much I appreciate the work you did on my Ibanez Destroyer. It was my first proper guitar, and has never felt right, even with other so called experts having a crack at it.. She plays like a dream now. I cannot recommend your service enough, and would urge anyone with under-performing guitars to use your service.I’ll be back soon, with another corker which should even test your amazing talents! Regards Mark

Fender Jazz Bass After The good Doctor had finished fixing a bass of mine he has given an old favourite a new lease on life. My old Fender Jazz bass was in need of some TLC and Robin’s work has made this tired sounding bass a clear and much improved voice. I cannot explain how good this man is at fixing / improving / renovating (You name it) guitars and I hope to keep bringing him mine for many years to come (erm…only if I have problems with them though ha ha).Miles Batty
2) Thanks again Robin. The Jazz bass sounds and plays amazingly so well in fact that it has replaced the Warmoth as my No 1 again.

Epiphone SG: I used the SG at a gig on Friday and have not stopped playing it since!  It is now better than ever (even compared to when I first bought it).  When I bought it round to you the frets were in need of some attention, but my main problem was that it didn’t hold its tuning and the various dials and switches needed tightening.
You worked on the guitar for hours, redoing the frets, replacing switches, tuning heads and the nut, and giving it a needed clean.  All in all well worth it – I will bring my other guitar round in the new year! Fully recommend your services to anyone!

Fender Precision Bass and Gordon Smith GS2

We’ve been meaning to send you an email since the first gig we did with my new bass! It’s great – thank you very much; it really does feel like a new bass, it sounds lovely as well. We are also very happy with the Gordon Smith GS2, the frets are much better for string bends and it  plays really well.

Anyway thanks again for your hard work, we’re happy customers! Sally & Martin
